Plans take shape for Hastings Week

The small band of dedicated volunteers, was voted in and immediately got down to work planning this year’s events which will run from October 8 to 16.
Committee Vice-chairman Ion Castro said: “There’s a lot of planning to provide a full and varied week of events and this year we are very conscious that some of the local events we support could clash with re-enactments of an internationally significant event that took place nearby 950 years ago, so there will be no Crafts Fayre this year.

Hide Ad“The Classic Car Show will by invitation only and will take place on one day only so that the Sprat and Winkle classic commercial vehicle show can still go ahead.
“Full details of events taking place during the ‘week’ will appear on the official website as information emerges.”
The new committee is comprised of: President - Maureen Charlesworth; Chairman - Nigel Hogben; Vice Chairman - Ion Castro; Secretary - Sarah Crosby; Treasurer - Terry Novis; Events co-ordinators - Sharon Johnson and Sarah Lawlor and the Classic Car Show - Tracey Milns.
Hastings week ends with a bang with the traditional Hastings bonfire celebrations which will see a torch-lit procession along the seafront and through the Old Town and a giant bonfire and fireworks display on the beach.
