We are a fledgling voluntary organisation en tirely reliant on the goodwill and support of the people of Ore and the wider Hastings community, and we have not found this help wanting. Our Royal Horticultural Society affiliated group began life just over a year ago and in that short time we have helped build a new public flower garden at the Ore Centre, planted fruit trees on the village green, put in large decorative planters at the traffic Islands on the Old London Road, and only this week have put up 20 hanging baskets through the centre of Ore. None of this would have been possible without the gift of time and goods, and the sharing of professional skills from the following: BlackBrooks Garden Centre, Sedlescombe Chris Paine Construction, Westfield John Wright Designs, Hastings Harborough Nurseries, Guestling Rotherview Nurseries, Ore The Community Payback team The firemen at the Ridge Fire Station The Co-op, Ore Virginia Gilbert and her team at Hastings Borough Council Cllr Michael Wincott Cllr Terry Fawthrop East Sussex County Highways Tony Howard, head gardener, Fairlight Hall The Friary Gardeners, Ore B&Q, Ore Good luck to all those entering this year’s In bloom competition SARAH KOWITZ Chairman, Ore in Bloom
