He still managed to pack plenty of nonsense in to the shorter space.
It is ridiculous to maintain that every financial crisis experienced by a country is self-inflicted and very clear that our present crisis is caused by the Brexit vote.

Hide AdThere were no signs of a slumping pound, slower growth, a lower bank rate, rising inflation, more recession etc before the vote.
That these would result from an exit vote were predicted by just about every credible economic expert and have come to pass. But perhaps Mr Jones shares Mr Gove’s erudite view of the value of experts.
I have no intention of trying to rerun the EU campaign nor of indulging Mr Jones by engaging in private correspondence.
I know there is no chance of altering such embedded dogma but it is important to challenge it when publicly expressed. It is a common rhetorical ploy when under pressure to withdraw from the argument while maintaining one is correct despite the evidence.

Hide AdWhile, obviously, I think the decision was wrong, I fully accept the referendum result, that we will leave the EU and must make the best of it. What Mr Jones seems to fail to grasp is that it is the lack of any strategy to do this that really troubles me.
All we get is vague mumblings about being left to get on with it and the prospect of negotiating up to 160 trade agreements each of which will take years (especially as we have virtually no qualified negotiators and will ironically have to recruit them from abroad at vast cost). Meanwhile, the costs of leaving eat up any marginal savings in contributions with no prospect of increased NHS or Border Agency funding and we suffer the effects of the financial crisis on top.
Having expected to narrowly lose but make political capital, the leading lights of the leave campaign, Johnson, Gove, Farage, Fox, Grayling etc, made no plans for winning and were terrified when they did. Many have now withdrawn from public life and there is a deafening silence from the rest.
Where is the vision of a Britain outside of the EU and the detailed road map to get us there? The government is clearly making up Brexit as it goes along.
