Wealden District councillors paid tribute to a former colleague this week, holding a minute's silence in his memory.

At a full council meeting on Wednesday (November 21), a minute’s silence was held in memory of John ‘Jack’ Gore – a long-serving councillor and former chairman of Wealden District Council.

He passed away in July at the age of 87 after a long bout of illness.

Leading the memorial, the council’s current chairman Cllr Chris Hardy (Con. – Hartfield) said: “It is with sadness that I have to report that John, better known as Jack, Gore, passed away peacefully at his home in Framfield on Tuesday the 24th of July, in the company of his wife Kathy after battling with illness for some considerable time.
