Firefighters called to smoke issuing from Horsham jewellers

Firefighters were called to Wakefields in West Street at about 10.20am to reports of the fire alarm sounding and smoke issuing from the premises.
However, the incident was due to the shop’s Smoke Cloak - a robbery prevention device that pumps smoke into the store - being activated.

Hide AdStaff at the jewellers said the device was set off accidentally and there had been no robbery or fire.
They added the shop would reopen shortly.
A fire crew used a positive pressure ventilation fan to help clear the smoke.
