The evening’s host - Toastmaster - Mark Mulcahy took to the floor describing what the various roles involved and he introduced all the speakers.

Hide AdSusan Kennard’s top tip for the evening was to practice, practice and practice. President Graham Gardener, introducing new member Ian Ellery, said he was starting on an exciting journey.
Ian described his successful career as an illustrator but advised members never to trust a school careers officer.
He made the audience laugh when he boasted that the 1980’s were the best time to have a company credit card.
Experienced speaker Dec Cluskey, assessing Ian’s first speech, stated it was one of the best ice breakers he had ever heard.

Hide AdEliza Davies skilfully conducted an exercise in persuading the group of the benefits of only one parent going out to work.
Denise Mulligan said Eliza had managed to open the audiences views on a controversial issue of mothers staying at home.
Susan Kennard eloquently delivered her speech titled ‘The Law Of Attraction In Action’.
Giles Robinson, when evaluating Susan, gave her very positive feedback.

Hide AdDorothy Margison injected great fun into the evening when she spontaneously selected members of the group to speak.
They were asked to use a pictorial image as their starting point to speak for two minutes without any preparation.
Guests Kelan and Paul were happy to launch themselves in at the deep end: they both managed to get quickly get into the topics at this point.
They said they had really enjoyed themselves both in participation and learning from the experienced speakers.
