Bags of winter clothes arrive for our campaign
While a mass of gloves, coats, fleeces, hats and scarves have been donated to those most vulnerable during the low temperatures of the winter months, there is still a great need for donations, particularly for the elderly.
Sue Rixon, from Age UK West Sussex, said: “We are planning to help older people in the county to do more than survive the winter.

“Please sort through your winter clothes and see if you have a coat in good condition you could donate – this item can help make such a difference to someone’s well-being this winter.”
The charity is also providing additional opening hours at the Tamarisk Centre, in Beach Road, Littlehampton, where Sunday lunches will be available.
“One of the challenges of getting older is feeling the cold and keeping warm. Our information and advice team are on hand to help minimise those fuel bills.
“We would welcome calls on 01903 731800,” said Sue.

Tony Holley, from the Lions, said:” At this time of year people are conscious of others.
“If people are out in this they must be freezing.”
Rachel Blair, community fundraiser for Worthing Churches Homeless Project, has asked for Winter Warmers donations to be clearly labelled to ensure that they are allocated to the campaign.
