A guide to the forthcoming police and crime commissioner elections
The role is an entirely new position, which has been created to make the police more accountable to the public.
The elected commissioner will replace Police Authorities.
They will have a number of roles but will be tasked with consulting with the community as to how best to help them.

Hide AdFive candidates in Sussex are bidding for the £85,000 salary position.
They are: Tony Armstrong (UKIP), Katy Bourne (Conservative), Ian Chisnall (Independent), Godfrey Daniel (Labour) and David Rogers (Lib Dem).
The Herald asked its readers whether they were planning to vote and many said that they had not had any information about it.
