The Cecil Pashley Way eatery, owned by Sussex-based company Truffles Bakery, announced on Facebook yesterday afternoon (December 21) that it was making the ‘difficult decision’ to close its doors until at least January 4. In a Facebook statement, Truffles said: “Unfortunately the restrictions since being placed in tier 2 have made it too difficult to continue with opening and keeping everyone safe. “We would like to thank the staff who work there for trying their best over the past month to make it work. It has been heartbreaking for many of them to see the restaurant so quiet during the usual busy festive period. “Paul and his team at the Hummingbird hope they can welcome all their customers back in the New Year. “Wishing all our restaurant staff and customers a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!” Family-owned Truffles has 13 branches across Sussex, including sites in Goring, Shoreham, Lancing and Steyning. It took over the Hummingbird Restaurant in Shoreham Airport’s iconic art deco main terminal in 2012.
